Denver is a city of promise, intrigue… and elevation!

It is an attractive home for many people because of its robust urban culture, job opportunities in new markets, and the beautiful Rocky Mountains where recreation abounds in every season. Forbes Magazine listed it among the most popular cities for millennials in 2015 with thousands moving to Denver each month.

Sadly, Jesus Christ and His Gospel are tragically ignorable in Denver and Lakewood. Denver is 6th among the most non-religious cities in the United States. Just 7.75% of Denver-Metro residents could be considered active evangelicals.

Lakewood, in the southwest region of metro Denver, ranks 5th in population among Colorado cities with over 143,00 people. Lakewood is a diverse community with more affluent families in the west, working class families in the east, and a growing population of young singles and families in the middle. Specifically we feel called to the Central Lakewood area. It is a broken, diverse, and growing community, a community in desperate need of the gospel.

Calvary Church - Lakewood

God is at work in Denver, and by his grace in the community of Central Lakewood! Calvary Lakewood began in the summer of 2015 with 11 families. We have seen this number more than double. Since we began God has provided us opportunities to serve a broken community.

At times ministry for us has involved caring for those who are jobless, homeless, or on parole. In October we held a Fall Festival for Stein Elementary School located next door to the building where we gather on Sunday. 92% of the students at Stein receive free or reduced lunch. This summer we will hold a SoccerNights camp for this school and community.By God’s grace we have received much favor with schools and other community organizations.

We are witnessing God transform lives as individuals make public professions of faith in Christ through Baptism. We believe God is at work in Lakewood and we pray He continues to use Calvary to make his name non-ignorable in Denver and to the ends of the earth!

Your testimony is powerful. The gospel is transforming. God’s love for us in Jesus is inseparable. His mission will not fail. Let’s go!

We believe God is calling someone to be the inaugural Generation Link Denver resident. We are praying for that person. Perhaps that is you. We desire someone with a missionary heart, a passion for the local church, and a humble eagerness to serve and grow as a leader.

Our desire is for those in the Denver residency to maximize their time in building relationships in the community and serving the needs of the church. For some with greater support, this may provide opportunities for consistent volunteer work in organizations we have partnered with in the community. For others, their opportunity to build natural relationships with the unchurched may come through the platform of a part-time job, which they need to provide extra income.

There is a need for Generation LINK residents in multiple areas of ministry. We are more than willing to talk through other possible areas of ministry, but some specific examples of areas of need for Generation LINK residents to serve are Children’s ministry, Youth ministry, College ministry, Men’s/Women’s ministry, Administration, Worship ministry, Graphic/Web design, and Media.

A summer in Denver is awesome…using your summer to help plant a church in a community in desperate need of the gospel, very awesome! Perhaps God would put it on your heart to serve with Summer LINK Denver in the summer of 2018. Come serve with us on mission.

Our team will have weekly Bible study and worship times, leadership and missionary development training, opportunities to fellowship together, and the privilege to serve on Sunday’s at Calvary Lakewood. At least four different churches will be sending mission teams to Calvary this summer. One of those weeks will include a Soccer Nights summer camp, as well as several other community outreach events through our “Love Lakewood” initiatives. It is going to be a great summer.
