14 Aug Summer LINK Seattle: Final Thoughts
Posted at 03:47h in Uncategorized
Now that Summer LINK is over, we sit here in the SeaTac Airport reflecting on the final week. Our team worked to reach out to several influential people in Bellevue, we hosted an ice cream party at Lakeview Elementary School, and we attended the Creation Festival.
In order to further connect Essential Church to the Bellevue community we put together a packet that was a thank you to different influential people in the area for their service, such as teachers, the fire chief, and the mayor. The packets were well received and many of the people were very happy to be recognized for their hard work.
We also got an opportunity to run a field day and ice cream party for Lakeview Elementary. This was an awesome experience, especially for those who had run the soccer camp at this school earlier in the summer. Some of the kids at the school not only had attended the soccer camp but had also been at the block parties we put on. It was definitely a blessing that we had the chance to develop relationships with them throughout the summer.
The last weekend we attended Creation Festival, which is a large concert/speaking festival for youth featuring people like Lecrae and Louie Giglio. The intent of this trip was to pour into any youth we had connected with over the summer. We had the blessing of bringing two young ladies with us, Tory and Jenny, who we were connected with through a friend of Essential’s named Amy, who works with youth in the area. Amy not only connected us to these girls but was a big help to our team throughout the summer. All of the girls on our team got to really connect with both of these young ladies and had some extra time with Jenny on Saturday and Sunday. Please pray for her salvation! Creation Festival was quite the experience, with Family Force 5 bringing the party and getting to meet Hawk Nelson, we definitely left with some good memories.

This summer was filled with a lot of crazy good fun along with tough situations where we needed God’s strength to love each other. Fortunately our God is good and He gave us that strength along with some incredible experiences that bonded us together as a team. This leg of the race is done but we are reminded to run with endurance the race that God has set before us; and so we return home.
