26 Jul Final update from Atlanta
Hello from Atlanta! Actually, Boston! We arrived in Boston on Sunday night to serve with Kevin Sanders and Redeeming Grace Church in Arlington for Serve Arlington! So far we have hung door hangers for the free movie night, passed out gum and invite cards at the Alewife T station, organized the Arlington food pantry, and served at the senior center. We still have many other things planned! We also got to go to the Red Sox game which is always a good time! After Serve Arlington we will stay in Boston for a few extra days for the SummerLink debrief when all of the SummerLink teams come together and share what God has done throughout the summer! 2 weeks ago we held our own service week in Dacula called, you guessed it, “Serve Dacula”! We cleaned 2 of our parks including moving 17 tons of mulch. We also helped out at Dacula High School in the office, held a free car wash, passed out water bottles and freeze pops, and hung door hangers for our community fun night. To end the week, we hosted a free community fun night with inflatables, hot dogs, cotton candy, and raffles! We even had a few visitors that came to Newbranch that Sunday because of the fun night! It was a great week of serving our city. Jonathan and I have also met once a week at wonderful establishments like Bojangles and Waffle House for Discipleship. We read through “Discipleship” by Mark Dever. It was a great book about discipleship and it has encouraged me to start discipling! It has been a great summer serving with Newbranch and Generation Link!
