15 Jun Settling into Seattle
Summer LINK Seattle got off to a great start on Sunday, June 4th as we began our first day by serving at Essential Church. One of the highlights from early in the week was our team hike up Tiger Mountain. Though physically demanding, it was a bonding experience as we encouraged one another, tended to one another?s needs and trekked up the mountain together. Once we reached the top, we got to take in God?s incredibly beautiful creation and share our testimonies with each other. It was the perfect way to demonstrate what a Christ like community looks like in action.
We have been hard at work this week, participating in several projects within the Bellevue community. A few days ago, we worked with an organization out here called Jubilee Reach and helped them put on what is called The Atty Awards, an opportunity to showcase academic standouts in schools. It was fun to get to see the smiling faces of children (and parents alike) as we helped do some fun carnival games and hand out prizes. The past few days, we have been engaging in evangelism with mostly International students at Bellevue College. We have built relationships with two international students who we met both while sitting in on an ESL class. Continue to pray for these students who we will be building relationships with this summer.
A verse that has been encouraging to our team while being here in Seattle is Matthew 9:37 which reads ?The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.? There is truly very few committed Christians in this area that can clearly and effectively communicate the true gospel to the people. However, God is using the few here to multiply his kingdom and I pray our summer would be a time to grow in our walks with the Lord.
