13 Jun Summer Prayer List
Posted at 20:18h in Raleigh
Summer LINK Raleigh has officially begun. This year we have a team of 10 SLINKers who will be discipled and equipped to serve the church in various ministries. It is a privilege to join with over 100 others students in 11 different locations all over North American and the world as we seek to impact nations for the kingdom. It is a beautiful thing to partner together with other churches to make disciples.
There is such great potential for this summer and that is why we must begin with prayer. John Wesley once said, “God does nothing but by prayer, and everything with it.” I want to share my prayer list for our SLINK team—and really, for every SLINK team this summer.
I pray that students would grow into mature disciples. May students be “built up into the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Jesus Christ” (Eph. 4:12-13). Since maturity is measured by likeness to Jesus, I pray students would more faithfully live for and reflect Jesus Christ as a result of this summer.
I pray students would be equipped to make disciples. May students be equipped to do the work of ministry and to carry out the Great Commission—to make disciples of all nations (Eph. 4:12; Matt. 28:18-20). I pray this summer sparks a passion within our students to make disciples and that they would be better equipped to do so.
I pray that God would use our SLINK team to bring many to faith in Jesus Christ this summer. May we be humble and yet bold enough to pray like Paul this summer, “that words may be given to me in opening my mouth to boldly proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak” (Eph. 6:19-20). In all of our conversations, in every outreach event, in every lesson, in every opportunity, may we display the fruit of the gospel and declare the message of the gospel.
I pray that God would use our SLINK team to establish and strengthen our church’s presence in the community. May God use our SLINK teams to broadcast the gospel and the beauty of the church by reflecting Christ in the community through how we love and serve, whether in our city or in the places that our teams will travel. I pray that our lives would be salt and light and that we may “shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life” (Matt. 5:13-16; Phil. 2:15-16)
I pray that God would use Summer LINK to send out a group of equipped disciple-makers into our local churches and into the world for the glory of Jesus Christ. May this summer not be an end in and of itself, but may it be the beginning, the deepening, or the furthering of a commitment to make disciples who labor to impact nations for the kingdom. I pray this summer is not merely a once in a lifetime experience, but a life changing experience—one that equips labors to serve the church and advance the gospel among the nations.
As we begin Summer LINK Raleigh, I ask you to join me in praying these things and expecting God to do great things in and through us this summer. May God do abundantly more than we can ask or think.
